DSACO Summer Picnic 2018

Since Alice was born, our inclusion in DSACO (Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio) has made all the difference for us.  It is beyond comforting to know so many other people who have kids with Down syndrome.  And to see these kids is to love them!  They are all such normal, healthy, beautiful, amazing kids.

Yesterday, we attended the DSACO Summer Picnic 2018.  It was at the Columbus Zoo.  There are more than 800 families in Columbus alone who have a child with Down syndrome, and we met many of them yesterday at the picnic.  Lucy ran around with other kids with Down syndrome and their siblings without Down syndrome.  She didn't see any differences between the kids with Down syndrome and the kids without it.  Alice looked around, wide-eyed and very curious about what was happening all day.

We rode the carousel, saw tons of animals, got our girls' picture drawn and just enjoyed our day with our new friends at DSACO.

I also finally got to meet Kari Jones, President/CEO of DSACO, and she was so kind, welcoming and down to earth.  (She even said she had read my blog!  Woohoo!)

We feel so blessed to be part of this amazing community.  I continue to feel so grateful that God chose to bless us with a child who has Down syndrome.  I don't know how we got so lucky!
